Overnight Newborn Care

How can your night Doula help you?

Having a night time Doula can give any new parent lots more sleep, while having the peace of mind that your baby is safely being cared for in his/her nursery. Your Doula can:
  • Bring baby to you for feeding
  • Help get baby properly latched on
  • Bring you water or a snack if you need it
  • Take baby back to nursery for burping
  • Change baby's diaper
  • Settle baby back to sleep 
  • Implement healthy sleep habits 
  • Take care of any baby-related chores

Typical night WITHout a doula

10pm - Sleepily put dishes in dishwasher and get ready for bed  10:15pm - Nurse baby
10:45pm - Lay baby down and go to bed
11:15pm - Baby cries. You change diaper and rock baby to sleep
11:45pm - Go back to sleep
12:45pm - Baby wakes and wants to nurse
1:15am - Change baby's outfit after baby spits up milk
1:45am - Go back to sleep
3:15am - Baby wakes up and wants to nurse
3:45am - Change baby's diaper, burp, and rock back to sleep
4:00am - Go back to sleep
6:00am - Baby wakes up and wants to nurse

Total sleep: 5 hours        Wakings: 3

Typical night with a doula

10pm - Your Doula arrives and you tell her how the day went
10:15pm - Nurse baby and ask some baby related questions
10:45pm - Go to bed knowing your baby is taken care of
11:15pm - Doula changes baby while you sleep soundly
11:45pm - Doula starts a load of baby laundry. You are asleep.
12:45pm - Doula gives baby a bottle of pumped milk
1:15am - You are still sleeping soundly
1:45am - Doula changes and soothes baby
3:15am - You wake up and need to pump
3:45am - Back to sleep. Doula is emptying your dishwasher
4:00am - More sleep while your Doula folds baby's laundry
6:00am - Doula brings you baby, breakfast & coffee before leaving

Total sleep: 6hrs and 45 minutes        Wakings: 1
